Claim Back Mortgage Administration Fees
Reclaim your mortgage administration fees back - if you've been charged an
admin fee by your mortgage provider simply because you opted to end your
mortgage, then you may be entitled to a refund.
Mortgage Exit Administration Fees are also known as MEAF's which in turn, can
also be referred to as:
- Deed Release Fees
- Sealing Fees
- Final Administration Fees
- Discharge Fees
- Final Redemption Fees
Whatever your fee was called, this charge was paid by you to end your
mortgage contract with your mortgage company.
Reasons why this might happen include, you may have switched at the end of a
fixed interest rate period to gain a better mortgage deal or you simply paid off
your mortgage, settled your mortgage account in full.
MEAF's were imposed to deal with legitimate expenses your mortgage company
incurred, for example, releasing the deeds ... however, mortgage exit admin fees
have become yet another way for lenders to make money at your expense.
Average Claim £250
A fee of 25% + VAT is incurred of whatever is won back for you with a minimum
fee of £65 + VAT.
The good news for you - it won't go to Court and it will take about 2 minutes
of your time - Lenders should either charge NO FEE or, the original fee in the
contract, if that can be justified.
Even agreed fees should only deal with actual expenses incurred such as deed
release fees, land registry charges, staff processing costs and a reasonable
proportion of general overheads.
